life cycle cost software, life cycle cost, life cycle analysis Life Cycle Cost Analysis

Life cycle costing is a methodology for calculating the whole cost of a system from inception to disposal. The system will vary from industry to industry and could for instance be a building, a ship, a weapon system or a power station. Whatever the system, the life cycle costing technique will be the same, the major items of cost will be defined through its life. These items could include research and development, construction, operation and maintenance and disposal. The items may be further subdivided until the cost of each element can be defined as a mathematical equation. At a simple level this may be the number of man-hours multiplied by a cost rate. The elements of cost will then be added together to give the total cost for each item and a grand total for the system through its full life. As the project develops you will want to alter your life cycle cost analysis model accordingly and you will also want to carry out sensitivity studies and cost trade off studies. Each of these will be require a recalculation of the model. lccWare gives you the power to create and develop a life cycle cost model in a familiar interactive visual environment. lccWare also provides you with professional quality reports.

  • Standard Windows dialogs, menus and controls for easy function access and layout
  • Cost Breakdown Structure (CBS) based on tree structure similar to the Windows Explorer
  • User  creates tree structure suitable for project
  • Drag and drop, cut, copy and paste for fast tree construction
  • Define one or more time sequences of dates which span the life cycle under study
  • Define local and global variables for use in cost functions
  • Set variable values in easy to use dialogs or import from Access, Excel or text files
  • Create cost functions from pre-defined variables, global functions and standard maths functions
  • Assign cost functions to cost nodes
  • Define 'User Functions' for post-processing costs, for instance calculate Net Present Values
  • Part trees provide the user with a convenient method of assigning the costs associated with a frequently used piece of equipment to a cost function.
  • The library facility allows the user to create many cost structures in a single master library.
  • The project wizard simplifies the creation of new projects.
  • The lccWare project can (optionally) be protected by 4 levels of user security - administrative, design, modify or read
  • Extensive on-line help facility including key word search
  • Import and export facilities for project data
  • Undo/Redo facilities

life cycle cost analysis Analysis

When you have created the cost structure and assigned the cost functions to the appropriate cost objects in the tree, all that remains is for you to choose the time sequences to be used and run the calculation. This phase may be carried out by another person since it does not require an in-depth knowledge of the cost functions. The variable values could be set at this stage since all that is required is that the values are input into simple dialogs. You can then run the calculation at the click of a button. You can easily re-run the calculation with different variable values to carry out 'what if' studies using the sensitivity study option.

  • Cost and cumulative cost is calculated for each cost function at each time point in each time sequence.
  • Cost and cumulative cost is displayed for the whole project at each time point in each time sequence.
  • Any 'User Functions' are calculated.

report import export Reports, Import/Export

lccWare includes the latest version of the report generator and import/export wizard. The report generator provides you with standard reports containing tabular data, graphs or diagrams. You can also customise your own reports in next to no time! You can print out the reports directly or export them to a Rich Text Format file. Many software packages such as Microsoft Word can read RTF files allowing you to include the reports in other documents.
